After You Receive a Grant

Congratulations on receiving a grant from the Office on Violence Against Women. We want you to be successful with your grant and help you comply with federal regulations. This section outlines the steps and reports required to remain in compliance, plus many other important things as how to get paid, records retention and allowable costs.

Your most important resource to create procedures and answer key questions should be the Financial Guide. This resource details all post-award requirements in part III.

Quarterly financial reports are required to be submitted no later than 45 days after the end of the quarter. The Financial Status Report - SF245 lists the actual expenditures for the prior reporting period as well as the cumulative expenditures for the award.

Some key definitions for terms used and services provided through OVW grants please refer to the Overarching Definitions and Grant Conditions from VAWA 2005 . Using the proper term will help you remain in compliance with your grant.

By statute, several grant programs administered by the Office on Violence Against Women require that applicants and grantees certify that their laws, policies, and practices do not require the victim to bear the cost of different fees associated with  protection orders and criminal charges. The VAWA 2000 Costs for Criminal Charges and Protection Order Chart can be used by applicants and grantees of those grant programs to help them assess whether they are in compliance with the applicable statutory requirements.
