The landmark American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act), signed into law by President Obama, provides the Justice Department’s Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) with $140 million for the STOP Violence Against Women Formula Grants Program, $ 8.75 million for the State Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Coalitions Program, $43 million for Transitional Housing Assistance Grants, $20.8 million in Grants to Indian Tribal Governments, and $2.8 million for the Tribal Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalitions Program.
